Lets be clear about one thing: Texting her at 2 AM to say "Its over between you and I" is pretty much an asshole move. The only way this can be acceptable is if you truly believe she either has a gun or some other type of weapon. Hopefully, for your sake, the women you date don't carry an arsenal of weapons. Most woman will find that you sent this text impulsively and will keep hanging onto a string of hope that you might one day come back to them. A text message will not end a relationship as cleanly as you would imagine.
No. 4 - During the middle of a date
If you were going to break it off, do it towards the beginning of the date, espicially if you feel she will throw an emotional fit. She will also feel extremely betrayed that the whole date was not honest because the date was only made to end further dates. This can quickly turn into a very uncomfortable situation for both parties.
No. 3 - Before a major date
Most people think twice before renewing expensive memberships and deciding to buy that second car. So if you truely feel that the relationship will not work out, you are better off ending it after the "milestone" has occured. Either wait or do it at least a month before the milestone. If you break up with her three days before its your one year anniversary, you will look as if you have commitment issues. These commitment issues will cause her to try to "rehabilitate" you making it one of the worst ways to end a relationship.
No. 2 - By avoiding her
Guys, assuming you will break up with her this way will only make things worse. She will call you until your phone is completely non-functional or you change your number. Breaking up with her this way will only make a quick break up into a 2 month ordeal.
No. 1 - After getting drunk
Breaking up with her after taking 10 tequila shots is not the way to go. This will cause you to blurt out things you dont mean. Its never good to break up with her if your laughing uncontrollably. Breaking up with her is ill advised if you are high also. Trying to break up with her when your craving some potato chips will not be easy. This also goes for if shes in any sort of brain altered state.
